The differences between Paper-Based and CEQ Digital exams from Cambridge

Are you thinking about taking the Cambridge exam? If so, you might be wondering which exam format would suit you best: the traditional “Paper-Based” (PB) or “CEQ Digital”? This article explores the key differences between these two options.

  1. Special requirements

Both options offer the possibility of special arrangements for candidates with specific needs. The deadline for sending the necessary documentation is 4 to 8 weeks before the exam date.

  1. Registration

When it comes to the registration for the exam, the end of the registration period depends on the type of the exam:

- PB exams: The registration closes 6 weeks before the exam date.

- CEQ Digital exams: Candidates can register up to 17 days before the exam.

  1. Confirmation of Entry

There are no differences when it comes to receiving the Confirmation of Entry.  All candidates will receive the Confirmation of Entry approximately 1 week before the exam date.

  1. Post-exam cases

One of the key differences between the two formats is the deadline for resolving post-exam cases:

- PB exams: Post-exam issues must be resolved within 10 days of the exam date.

- CEQ Digital exams: Everything must be resolved within 2 days of the exam.

  1. Results

One of the biggest differences between PB and CEQ Digital exams is the opening of the Results window.

- PB exams: Results window opens 4-6 weeks from the exam date

- CEQ Digital exams: Results window opens 10 days after the exam date.

  1. Certificates

Similarly, certificates will also be dispatched earlier:

- PB exams: The certificate arrives at the exam centre about 8 weeks after the exam.

- CEQ Digital exams: The certificate arrives approximately 3 weeks after the exam.

The choice between Paper-Based (PB) and CEQ Digital exams depends on your preferences and needs. Both options offer the same quality and value of the Cambridge English certificate, but each has distinct advantages.

If you prefer speed and flexibility, CEQ Digital exams are the clear choice, offering shorter waiting times. This can be especially beneficial if you need the certificate quickly for applications, such as university entrance exams or the Maturita exam. On the other hand, the PB format may be more suitable for those who prefer traditional paper-based test formats. When deciding which format to choose, always consider your needs, time constraints, and preferences.
