FAQS

Who can take the Cambridge exams?

Candidates of all ages, races, special needs, genders and religions can sit any Cambridge exam. Cambridge exams are accessible to all. Only the FOR SCHOOLS options are primarily aimed at primary and secondary school students, as they contain topics that are related to the school environment and are therefore more suitable for students. The certificate received after a FOR SCHOOLS exam is identical in level and appearance to its general version.

Cambridge exams are created with the possible age of the candidate in mind, but anyone can take the exam.

Exams created with the age of the candidate in mind are:

  • Pre A1 Starters, A1 Movers and A2 Flyers - for primary school students

  • A2 Key for Schools - for students in the second stage of primary schools or students in secondary school

  • B1 Preliminary for Schools - for secondary school students (exceptionally taken by students in the second stage of primary school)

  • B2 First for Schools - for secondary school students

I need to modify the exam conditions, is that possible?

The format of the exam, specifically extra time or larger font, can only be modified based on an official document from a specialist (psychologist, PPP). If you require a modification of the conditions, please send the following documents well in advance as the assessment of the case is handled in Cambridge, not in our exam centre. You will need:

  • scan of the original document

  • English translation (does not have to be literal, a short translation with the most important information such as: name of the issuing institution, date, signature, diagnosis, recommendation) Please send these documents to asistentka@zkouskypark.cz and include the date and location of the test you wish to apply the conditions to.

Please note that this process is time-consuming, so please send these documents ideally 2 months, but at least 4 weeks, before the scheduled exam. We would also like to inform you that unfortunately our centre cannot provide an English translation of your document. Thank you for your understanding.

Do I have to take a preparation course before the exam?

No. You can take the Cambridge exams without formal preparation, but many students prefer to take a preparation course to help them not only improve their English, but also to familiarise themselves with the format of the exam and to learn the tasks they will be expected to complete.

If you are looking for a preparation course, you can take a look at the wide range of preparation courses at our P.A.R.K. Language School https://www.skolapark.cz/skola.cz

I want to apply for the Cambridge exam, what should I do?

First, it would be good to clarify the purpose of the certificate. Do you need it for graduation or for an employer, or just for the sake of it? The date of this exam will depend on when you need to present the certificate to your institution. For information on dates and prices, please visit our website at https://www.zkouskypark.cz/cambridge. Please pay attention to the EXAM DETAIL for information on when your results will be available and when your certificate will arrive.

How do I register for the Cambridge exam?

You can register at https://www.zkouskypark.cz/cambridge

If you are unsure, you can also use our registration guides, which can be found here https://www.zkouskypark.cz/manualy-k-registraci.

Always familiarise yourself first with the format of the exam, duration of the exam and the date you can expect your results and certificate. This information can be found in the EXAM DETAIL. Registration for the exam is binding and rescheduling is possible for a limited time only and for a fee.

I don't know what exam to sign up for. What should I do?

If you are not sure what level of exam to choose, you can try the sample test.

In addition to the sample tests, we also organize so-called MOCK tests, which simulate a real exam and help you find out the level of your current English skills. For more information about MOCK tests, see here.

Where can I find my exam results?

You can find information on the results of the exam in the document you received by email before your exam, called Confirmation of Entry and Timetable.

At the bottom of this document you will find Results Information, which provides a link to the portal and your login details.

Can I take the Speaking exam as a group of three?

Unfortunately, no. Our candidates have the option to choose one partner for the speaking part and they take the exam in pairs. A group of three is only formed by the absence of one of the candidates, it can only occur at the end of the exam day and it is up to the exam day supervisor to determine the group of three.

What about the speaking exam of the YLE exams?

Candidates for the YLE examinations attend the speaking exam individually. The format of the oral examination is 1:1 (1 candidate : 1 examiner) and YLE candidates cannot choose a pair for the speaking part.

How do I keep my exam certificate?

Candidates should note that the certificate is an official document that cannot be laminated. It should ideally be kept in a pouch pocket or in a folder, like your report card.

Candidates are kindly requested to keep the certificate safely away from pets.

If the certificate is damaged, the certificate cannot be reissued, you will only receive a Certifying Statement, which is not a full certificate.

What if I failed the test by missing a point?

Actually, you didn't fail the test by a single point. The score you see on the certificate was calculated by Cambridge experts according to a specific algorithm and does not reflect the actual score, but the so-called Cambridge English Scale Score. You can read more here.

Because of the above, we recommend that candidates consider before requesting a check or a re-mark of their results, which is similarly costly to the Cambridge English exam itself.
